Quinto aniversario

No te olvidamos.

Menos mal que te has ido...

Glad that you are gone
(1974 life version of Poncho’s Lament)

This song is kinda inspired by my father, ah, he’s got married and divorced twice, ah, very much a man of the world I guess and ah... Oh, he said to me one night, he said ah… he said, his second wife left him, he said: boy, sure am glad she’s gone, and say yeah, and he said I wish she’d come home, and all that and ah, so I just figured it’d be a good one.

Well the stairs sound so lonesome without you,
and I ain’t made my bed in a week
there’s coffee stains on the paper as I am writing
and I am too choked up inside to speak
sure I know, honey, that our differences pulled us apart
and never spoke a word a word heart to heart
and I’m glad that you’re gone,
and I wish to the lord, you’d come home
I’m so glad that you are gone
I got the feeling so strong and I’m glad that you’re gone
And I wish to the lord you’d come home
Well, my guitar still plays your favourite song
Though the strings are bent out of tune for some time
And every time I am strumming a chord, pray up to the lord
That you quit your honking tonking and sing my song
I’m so glad that you’re gone,
I got the feeling so strong and I’m glad that you’re gone
And I wish to the lord you’d come home
Well, I throw another log onto the fire,
and I admit that I am a lousy liar
and as the coals die down and flicker
I hear that guitar picker
he’s playing a song he used to sing so long ago
I’m so glad that you’re gone,
I got the feeling so strong and I’m glad that you’re gone
And I wish to the lord you’d come home...
